FC Redux
SUNDAY (sorry, FS) , August 10 2:00 PM
Hare: Noah
This is one of only 18 days each year when Fondlit is older than I. Make sure to remind her.
Please read instructions carefully - especially habitual latecomers.
Exit 8 off Rt 28 (Fox Chapel exit). Turn left at the bottom of the ramp and go approx. 1.8 miles to traffic light by the Presbyterian Church at the top of the hill.
Turn right at the light and park in the church parking lot. Walk out the back of the lot onto Springhouse Lane. (They are digging some big sucking hole, so you may need to walk around the church instead of behind it.)
Noah’s house is the 6th on the right counting from the corner of Fox Chapel Road and Springhouse Lane.
This is our staging area. The trailhead (Who said …?) has almost no parking area. So I am asking a people with larger (5+driver capacity) CLOSED vehicles (no open pickups, y’all) to park at my house. You will be shuttle drivers. (Don’t worry. It’s only about 1.5 miles and you should only need to make two trips.) Shuttle drivers get an extra beer, but not while they are shuttling.
We will shuttle people to the start between 2:15 and 2:30. There will be refreshments at both the staging area and the trailhead. If you arrive after 2:30 you’re kind of hosed. Even if I left a map there would be nowhere for you to park.
Trail is not pet-friendly unless you want to shortcut 75% of the trail. Just bring plastic bags and a poop-patrol for the après.
Trail can be paralleled by bike, including beer stops. But you will have to cycle hills without benefit of any biking lane. WEAR A HELMET.
Apres - 125 Springhouse Lane, Fox Chapel
Warning: Speed limits are often strictly enforced along Fox Chapel Road.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair. And a taser. And your jambalaya jones.
